This Privacy Policy describes how FoundingHunt ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses information when you use foundinghunt.com (the "Site").
By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
From candidates
When you subscribe to job alerts, we collect:
- Email address
- Role type preference(s)
From founders posting jobs
When you create a listing, we collect:
- Name and email address
- Company name and details submitted as part of the listing
- Payment information — processed directly by Polar. We do not store card numbers or full payment details on our servers.
Automatically
The Site currently uses PostHog and Umami for analytics. These services may process technical and usage information when you visit the Site.
We are reviewing the Site's analytics configuration and consent model. We do not currently make a general claim that analytics data is anonymised or that it is always collected through cookies. See Section 5 for more detail.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Record candidate subscription requests and role preferences
- Process and publish job listings submitted by founders
- Process payments via Polar
- Monitor and improve Site performance
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. Legal Basis for Processing (EU/UK Visitors)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, the legal basis for processing depends on the purpose and circumstances of that processing. We have not finalised the legal basis or consent model for analytics or future email delivery. This policy will be updated when those decisions are complete.
4. Data Sharing
We share data with the following third parties only to the extent necessary to operate the Site:

5. Cookies
PostHog and Umami are currently loaded on the Site. Their use of cookies or other browser storage, and the controls that should apply to analytics, are under review. We will update this section when the analytics consent model and configuration are finalised.
6. Data Retention
We have not yet published fixed retention periods for candidate subscription requests, founder and listing data, or analytics data. Our retention schedule is under review, and this section will be updated when it is finalised.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict processing
- Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)

8. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
The Site is not directed at individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
